Report

* We have received reports that the crude oil tanker SAFESEA VISHNU (IMO 9327009) and the oil tanker ZEFRYOS (IMO 9515917) were attacked by explosive laden boats while engaged in ship to ship transfer operations off Khor Al Zubair Port, Iraq, on 11 March 2026.

* ZEFRYOS, a 2013 built oil tanker with a gross tonnage of 29,924, was en route from Khor Al Zubair to Umm Qasr, Iraq. It was reportedly laden with up to 52,125 litres of condensate products at the time of the attack.

* According to reports, the attacks ignited fires on both vessels, resulting in at least one fatality on board SAFESEA VISHNU.

* SAFESEA VISHNU reportedly suffered an explosion that caused a fire to engulf the port side of the vessel. The crew abandoned ship and were later rescued by the local coast guard. The vessel is said to be listing to port while a salvage team works to stabilise it, and she is reported to remain in the Persian Gulf.

* The crew of ZEFRYOS responded promptly, and the fire on board was extinguished shortly after it began. All crew members were safely evacuated ashore. The vessel is currently moored near Samos, where damage assessments, and potentially repairs are underway.

* It is possible that General Average/ Salvage issues may arise as a result of this incident, there will also likely be loss or damage too.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with any cargo on board these vessels so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
