------------------- GENERAL AVERAGE SECURITY REQUIRED -------------------

21 October 2024

* Further to our initial report of water ingress to container ship, GREEN PACIFIC, it has now been reported that the starboard side of the hold was breached as a result of the collision with oil tanker, HAVEN, as a consequence of which a number of containers stowed underdeck in the vicinity of the hull damage were affected by seawater.

* It is reported that shipowners have discharged the majority of the affected containers from the hold. However, a number of the affected containers were not able to be removed due to the deformation of the hatch cover.

* We understand that shipowners intend to effect repairs to the vessel to enable the remaining containers stowed within the affected hold to be discharged.

* Shipowners have declared General Average in view of the extra-ordinary costs to be incurred as a result of the collision. Consequently, General Average security will be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo, and we may be able to assist in that regard. We have already been instructed by particular Cargo Insurers and we may therefore be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third-party costs which may need to be incurred.

* Indeed, we have on standby a local cargo surveyor to investigate the extent of the damage to cargo, where necessary, and the cause of the incident.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board the vessel so that we immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
