Report

* We have received reports that container carrier , MSC HOUSTON V (IMO: 9463281) experienced a shift of cargo during adverse weather conditions in a position off the south west coast of Portugal on 20 March 2025.

* It is reported that the container stow at the aft of the vessel has collapsed and approximately 15 containers have been lost overboard from the vessel as a consequence of this incident.

* The vessel diverted to Vigo Port, Spain to enable any damaged containers to be discharged and the remaining affected containers to be restowed to the vessel to allow the vessel to resume its voyage.

* It is likely that much of the cargo stowed in those containers affected by the collapse of stow will have sustained damage and we currently have cargo surveyors on hand to investigate the extent of damage to cargo, if required.

* It is likely that Recovery claims will arise as a result of this casualty and consequently important that early steps be taken to retain an Expert and ensure the material evidence is properly preserved.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any of any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
